The scenic Styrian mountains provided a stunning backdrop for this weekend’s Austrian Grand Prix, the eighth round of the FIA Formula One World Championship. The 4.326km Red Bull Ring provided a stern test for the new generation of Power Units, with an average speed in excess of 200kph and over 60% of the race spent at full throttle.
Scuderia Toro Rosso’s Max Verstappen was the highest classified Renault-powered driver, passing the flag in eighth. Infiniti Red Bull Racing’s Daniel Ricciardo finished in tenth, just 3secs from ninth despite a grid penalty. Team-mate Daniil Kvyat finished in 12th, also hampered by a grid penalty.
