To understand the Payload of a Truck, one must understand the terms GVW (Gross Vehicle Weight) and Curb Weight.
Curb weight or Kerb weight
Curb weight is the actual weight of the vehicle. It is the total weight of a truck that is coming out of a manufacturing unit with standard components as well as a full tank of fuel. This doesn't include any cargo, passengers or any additional equipment mounted by the buyer.
GVW (Gross Vehicle Weight)
