Truck Market Analysis Q3 FY 2012-13

The total sales of Trucks for the third quarter of this fiscal year (Q3 2012-13) decreased by 3.16% at 174,191 units compared to the same quarter of previous fiscal where 174,191 units were sold. The snail paced economic growth together with arrested development in construction sector as well as ban on mining sectors in many parts of the country had rattled the Trucking Industry from the beginning of this fiscal year. The M&HCV segment is the worst affected with another steep decline of 49.02% in sales this quarter with a mere 49,780 units sold compared to 74,274 units sold during Q3 2011-12. The LCV segment mostly aided by sales of vehicles greater than 3.5ton GVW earned a growth of 17.79% at 124,411 units compared to 105,615 units during the third quarter of last fiscal.
Among the major OEM’s Tata Motors sold a total of 103,827vehicles for the third quarter of this fiscal, which is a 4% less when compared toQ3 FY 2011-12 where their sales were 108,188 units. As the worst affected OEM in the domestic market, TATA Motor’s M&HCV took a downhill with 28,159 units against 46,540 during the third quarter of last fiscalmarking a 39.5% decrease. In the LCV segment sales they recorded 22.74% increase during the third quarter at 75,668 units sold as against 61,648 during same period last year.
